Buy local, support local.

Spent the morning walking around the farmers’ market today with a big ole smile plastered across my face, as I do on lots Saturday’s this time of year. Mornings spent with smiley people drinking coffee and supporting good, healthy, local food? This is my happy place... DYK that only around $0.10 of every dollar you spend at the grocery store or restaurant goes to actual person who grew the food? How crazy is that?! But when you go to a market and buy directly from a farmer they receive a SIGNIFICANTLY better portion of that food dollar because you cut out all the middle men— transportation, preparation, marketing, etc. When you shop local, you get healthier, more nutritious, better tasting food. When you shop local you support good, local, hardworking people who grew that food. When you shop local, you support your local economy- helping your very own community thrive. When you shop local, you give the Earth a giant high-five, because your produce didn’t have to get trucked or flown hundreds of thousands of miles to get to your kitchen. There’s lots of good reasons to shop local when it comes to your food. What’s yours?
